An online drug dealer who recently bragged about his thriving business despite the coronavirus pandemic was allegedly developing extensive plans to bomb and burn down a competing pharmacy in Nebraska, an FBI agent testified.

William Burgamy was arrested Thursday and charged with illegal distribution of controlled substances and money laundering in U.S. District Court. During his initial hearing in Virginia on Monday, Agent Samad Shahrani said the 33-year-old Maryland man obtained his drug supply from a pharmacist in Nebraska for his Darknet business, NeverPressedRX, which offered oxycodone and other narcotics without a prescription.

According to the Shahrani, Burgamy and his supplier discussed at length how to destroy a nearby rival pharmacy with the hopes of attracting further business. Text messages between the pair revealed a list of equipment required to carry out the task, which included body armor, weapons, bottles and lighter fluid.

Last month Burgamy’s pharmacist gave him a map so that he could develop a getaway route following the attack, Shahrani testified.

“The defendant is a dangerous and volatile individual who schemed to blow up that pharmacy using Molotov cocktails,” prosecutor Raj Parekh said.

Burgamy’s lawyer, Elizabeth Mullin, argued for his release pending trial, contending that his talk was just hyperbole. She also noted pretrial detention should be used sparingly as jails can be especially at risk for spreading coronavirus.

He was taken into custody after telling an undercover FBI agent he had a number of medications available, but was waiting for a shipment delayed by the pandemic, according to court documents.

Undercover FBI employees made multiple controlled purchases of drugs from the site, which were sent to addresses in northern Virginia, according to the affidavit.

It’s not clear how much business Burgamy was able to push through his illegal enterprise, but authorities said he exchanged thousands of dollars worth of Bitcoin regularly.

According to an FBI affidavit, he boasted good sales despite the global pandemic.

“Even with Corona Virus the shop is running at full speed,” a post on his Facebook vendor page reads.
