Police officers searched the apartment of a 21-year-old Walsroder at the end of April based on a search warrant from the Verden District Court.
The reason for the search were payments made in cash with mostly false 50-euro notes in Walsrode and Schwarmstedt.
The suspect had bought electronic items offered through online classifieds and paid for them with counterfeit money.
However, it was only afterwards that the deceived people noticed that the sellers had received counterfeit money.
In addition, the young man from Walsrode is suspected of having paid for various purchases in various shops with counterfeit money.
After the offenses had been reported to the police, the suspicions regarding the Walsroder also intensified because the victims remembered its appearance and were able to describe it in detail.
The search of the 21-year-old led to the discovery of further 50 euro counterfeit bills and narcotics. Notebooks were also seized in the Walsroder’s apartment and are now to be evaluated.
As part of the search, the 21-year-old admitted that he had only paid twice with counterfeit money. The accused denied further acts. According to his own statements, he have obtained the false notes on the Internet, in the so-called Darknet.
