Pedophile Sent to Jail For Taking Photos of Children on Beach & Sharing Them on The Dark Web

sentenced to jail

A man has been jailed after he took pictures of a nine-year-old girl and swapped them for extreme child abuse images on dark web internet sites.

Terry Inwood took the photographs of the girl in underwear and pyjamas near Cullompton and added his own sexual comments before posting them online.

He also took pictures of children on beaches in Devon which he uploaded to file sharing sites, where he exchanged them for videos of toddlers being raped and abused.

Inwood also recycled some of the images he had downloaded from the internet and sent them to other paedophiles, who sent him more of their own material in return.

The 57-year-old has now been jailed and banned from using the internet on his release unless all his online activity is monitored by the police.

Inwood, of Station Road, Hele, near Cullompton, admitted one count of taking, three of making and three of distributing indecent images of children.

He was jailed for two years, four months by Judge Peter Johnson at Exeter Crown Court. He was put on the sex offenders register for ten years and made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same period.

The order prohibits him from using the dark web, allows police to monitor his use of the internet and bans unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16.

The judge told him:”Your interest in adult pornography metamorphosed into something more sinister. You had an interest in children as young as three or four and distributed images with friends on a network.”

Mr Brian Fitzherbert, prosecuting, said police became aware of an internet user accessing file sharing websites in March and May this year and traced Inwood by his IP address.

His home was raided on November 19 last year and a phone and computer seized. A fast-track search found images and movies of girls as young as three suffering penetrative sexual abuse and in obvious pain and distress.

He told police he had uploaded some to file sharing sites in exchange for similar material. He also shared images of a nine-year-old girl and photographs he took of children on beaches.

Mr Fitzherbert said:”The girl was shown wearing only underwear. Some images showed her buttocks and one showed her from the waist down. Some had been sent with his comments relating to sexual abuse.”

Police found 41 movies and 381 stills showing very serious abuse of children and 1,774 in lesser categories during a fast-track analysis but did not examine another 65,874 items on his devices.

Miss Felicity Payne, defending, said Inwood had been a user of adult pornography but gradually got drawn into watching and exchanging images of younger children.

She said he had been totally frank with the police and wants help to change his behavior. His partner lost her job as a teaching assistant as a result of his arrest and they now risk losing their home.
